Mini Quilt Warm Up With 4 x 4 Inch Squares

This week I had the notion or impulse of making a mini quilt to warm up to some sewing again, and started browsing through some old magazines from
Quilts and More (Better Homes and Gardens Creative Collection of Summer 2007) which had cut out patterns in the magazine. There was a square pattern there of 4 x 4 inches which I thought, let me cut this out and look for some scraps of fabric that was handy to which I cut out 4 squares of the pattern and sewed them together at a 1/4 inch seam. Pressed each seam accordingly. Then cut out a backing and interfacing of about 7 3/4 x 7 3/4 inches. Pressed the interfacing to the wrong side of the backing fabric, then matched it to the quilting of the sewed 4 squares with right sides together. Stitched accordingly, leaving about a 3 inch opening for turning inside out. Pressed, split and trimmed the corners and turned it inside out. Pressed and top stitched about 1/4 inch.
