Dressmaking | Tools And Equipment - For Sewing

Dressmaking | Tools And Equipment - For Sewing

Essential Sewing Tools

These are most times some of the tools we will have on hand in our sewing basket for everyday use, but while reading again this morning in my booklets from the course I mentioned yesterday’s blog post of Penn Foster “Dressmaking and Design” Ïntroduction to Sewing, these are the ones highlighted with that chapter as the essential tools most needed at the introduction to sewing, which we were asked to have on hand and handy for class projects.

Needles

Thimble

Sewing thread

Tacking thread

Tracing wheel and paper

Tailor's chalk

Beeswax

Small scissors

Buttonhole scissors

Pinking shears

Seam ripper

Seam gauge

Pin cushion

Hem marker

Dress forms

All can be purchased at any dressmaking store.  Visiting any dressmaking store is also a good thing to do and browse the various tools and equipment, even if you're not purchasing to become familiar.  Online stores are very helpful too in browsing as well and you can learn a lot about the various trends of new tools and equipment, as well as to the old.   I still have a tendency to stick to the old tools and equipment because I am familiar with them, but I am sure there are many new tools that work just as well or better.

I had a browse through Amazon of the list of tools and equipment, to obtain some product pictures to share in this blog post to which you may find helpful.  Some of which I myself need to purchase to refresh by sewing tools and equipment.
